TREE LOT SUCCESS STORY (STudent-LED): OUR tree lot raised $20,000!
Thanks to our incredible community, the MEF Tree Lot raised nearly $20,000 to support Malibu schools!
Led by MHS Senior Andy Uznis and Sophomore Parker Kaplan, our 17-day operation sold 250 trees, 90 wreaths, garland, and student-made ornaments, and hosted two joyful events: Community Night and A Dick Van Dyke 100th Birthday celebration.

A DICK VAN DYKE 100TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Hundreds of families, students, and fans came together to celebrate legendary entertainer and Malibu resident Dick Van Dyke’s 100th birthday — and to support arts education in our public schools.
Hosted at the MEF Tree Lot, the celebration featured birthday cake, an ice cream truck, live music, a surprise flash mob (with Arlene Van Dyke in attendance!), and a tribute to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. A highlight? The community birthday card — designed by Malibu High School student Maizee Marderosian — signed by hundreds of well-wishers.
All proceeds support the Van Dyke Endowment for the Arts, funding programs like choir, orchestra, visual arts, and theater across all four Malibu public schools.

With the 12.8.25 unanimous vote in favor of approving the execution of the three negotiated agreements, the unification moves forward. Throughout the transition, MEF will help fund essential staff and programs in the early years of MUSD.
