Malibu Education Foundation (MEF) was founded by a group of parents and community leaders committed to strengthening our public schools in 2024 and ensure parity with schools within, and around, our district. MEF’s Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and Committee Leads represents parents, community members, and PTA presidents that represents a diverse selection of industries and each of Malibu’s four public schools.

MEF is the only organization that is permitted to fund educators and programs at our school sites. MEF partners with the Principals and Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) at each site to help ensure that the needs of our students and teachers are met to provide a quality, well-rounded education. The elementary school PTA’s and the Shark Fund for Middle and High School raise funds to pay for materials, events, supplies and small programs specific to each school site, while Malibu Education Foundation raises funds for long-term staff and staffed programs at all four Malibu schools. As an example, while MEF funds the strength and conditioning coaches for Malibu High School and launched and funds the Middle School Athletics Program, The Shark Fund funded the weight room renovation.

The Malibu Education Foundation is a California non-profit, public benefit, corporation. It is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The federal tax ID number for the foundation (EIN) is 99-1029697. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

MEF is supported by the generous contributions of community members, school families, the City of Malibu, SMMUSD, and the local business community.
